About Titanic Stories

This site contains stories inspired by James Cameron's Titanic.

We wondered what the character's lives might have been like before Titanic and what Rose did after she stepped off of Carpathia in New York. So we set our imaginations and pens to the task and this is what we came up with.

"A Philadelphia Rose" is a possible vision of what Rose's childhood and adolescence in Philadelphia might have been like. It examines the relationship between Ruth and Rose more closely and introduces the reader to Mr. Bukater and Rose's paternal grandmother, Catherine Bukater. This story also covers Rose's first encounters with Caledon Hockley and proposes one view of why Rose was so distraught the night that Jack prevented her from jumping off the stern of Titanic. Carrie has contributed "Bound by Society" to this storyline.

"A Wisconsin Childhood" presents snippets from Jack's childhood, introducing the reader to Scriptos' idea of what kind of people his parents were. We also meet Jack's first art teacher and get a glimpse of Jack's travels across the United States and Europe before the fateful boarding day.

"Rose" is a full-length novel-in-progress. It combines writing by all three authors to develop a whole narrative of Rose's life after Titanic. Divided into five parts, the story follows Rose after she disembarks in New York ("Recovery," Beth) through her early movie career ("Hollywood," Beth), the blossoming of a new love in the twenties ("A New Beginning", Jill with inspiration from Carrie) and the trials and tribulations of married life in the thirties (Cedar Rapids, Beth and Jill. The final portions of Rose will show how Lizzy came to be Rose's caretaker and trace Rose's path back to Titanic as shown in the film ("Ojai", Beth and Jill).

"Lizzy" consists of several short stories written by Carrie from Lizzy's point of view after the events on the Keldysh.
